Types of Massage

Massage comes in many forms and styles from therapeutic to relaxing depending on the training of the therapist, as well as the needs of the client. I’ve found that the therapeutic side of massage has been the driving factor to seeing people’s health, wellness, and vitality flourish in their day to day lives.

What Is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumb and fingers to stimulate the many thousands of nerve endings in each foot. These nerve endings correspond to all parts of the body, including organs and glands. Stimulating the appropriate region is intended to eliminate energy blockages that produce pain in the related areas. Reflexology is used to prevent a wide variety of ailments. Reflexology massage can be a deeply relaxing and therapeutic style for those suffering from plantar fasciitis, ankle injuries or even everyday work and play.

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a technique aimed at the deeper structures of muscle and fascia, or connective, tissue. It uses many of the same techniques as Swedish massage, however, the pressure is more intense and the work more focused. It will be more uncomfortable than a Swedish session, however, it should not be painful. If the pressure becomes too great, speak up for relief. The deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension.

Acupressure FaceLift

A specialized noninvasive treatment designed to tone the face and return a youthful appearance. Gentle finger pressure is used to encourage lymphatic draining, tone the skin and tighten the facial muscles. No chemicals or surgery is required to allow the face to increase its natural beauty.

Swedish

Swedish is the most common and best known type of massage. It can be perform slow and gently or vigorously and bracing. It is the basis for all western style massage techniques.

Neck Injury Treatment

A specialized treatment routine, designed to treat whiplash injuries, as well as chronic, or longterm, neck pain. Focused deep tissue techniques are used on the main supportive muscles encircling the neck. Tissue inflammation, sprains and strains are treated and reduced, allowing proper posture and range of motion t return.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, noninvasive technique with a powerful effect on the body. It assists in lymph flow and drainage of tissues. It carries waste products from the tissues through the lymphatic system, by the application of gentle pressure and rhythmic hand movements to promote lymph flow.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is based on the idea that life force energy flows through us and causes us to live. It is administered with little or no physical contact and is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self improvement for everyone. In order for Reiki healing energy to work, the client must accept responsibility for their own healing through conscious decision.

Mark’s knowledge of health and wellness is amazing. I have been to several massage therapists over the years. Mark is by far the best I have ever been to. Mark has literally — through his knowledge of massage — put me back together several times. Mark has a very deep understanding of how the body works and how to use massage to not only get rid of aches and pains but also how it benefits long-term health.
